Welcome to Little Gigglers Childminding, which has now officially been judged as 'Outstanding'! My name is Donna and I have been an OFSTED registered childminder in Ingleby Barwick since July 2005.
My husband Graeme who is also fully registered childminder and we have 3 children - two daughters aged 10 and 6 and a son whos's 4 and bazil our cat.
I was greatly inspired by the care my daughter recieved by her childminder and during my last pregnancy I decided that working long hours in retail had had it's day and childminding seemed a great opportunity spend more time with my children and still have a profession to enjoy.
I was keen to offer an inclusive practise for all parents even those who work shifts or unsocail hours so Graeme (who has a separate delivery business) has also taken the full childminding course, first aid, child protection and has an enhanced criminal records check like myself. So if you are requiring different days each week or are having trouble finding care because you work shifts we might be able to help as my ratio's are doubled when we are both here working together.
About our setting
We have a dedicated play room which is spacious and child friendly to play and learn in. All the toys are at an accessible level so the children are free to make their own choices independantly. All the children are treated in an inclusive environment and are given equal opportunities to join in on the activities. Activities are adapted to meet the needs of all ages and development and/or specail needs.
We organise the days in flexible routines often around different themes but mainly around the childrens interests to stimulate the children to learn and enjoy their time with us.
Although we work to the Government directives framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (all childminders have to do this from September 2008) we try and develop the childrens skills and plan routines to meet the needs in an informal way so that the children still have a home from home environment and the emphasis is still on learning through play.
I also give the children opportunities to socailise and have new learning experiences at local toddler/stay and play sessions 2 - 3 times per week.
We look after children from 3 months to 11 years and pick up and drop off at Ingleby Mill Primary School and most nurseries.
Our rates are competitive for the area and aim to cater for all situations. Eg. Shift work, over nights, school holidays.
