Hello my name is Donna and I've been an OFSTED registered childminder in Ingleby Barwick, Stockton on Tees for coming up 3 years. 

I decided to start childminding when I was expecting my son who is nearly 3 and we have two daughters aged 9 and 5.  Childminding seemed a great opportunity to be at home and bring up my children and still have a profession to enjoy.

I intially completed a TROCN childminding course, first aid course and child protection awareness  run through Sure start but since then I have advanced and completed Diploma in Home Based childcare (a level 3 Qualification) and have almost completed an NVQ3 in childcare.  Training is ongoing to keep up with the latest intiatives and learn new skills.   

My husband Graeme has a delivery business but has also under taken the full childminding course, first aid, child protection and has an enhanced criminal records check like myself and so makes our setting very flexible as we can flex up on my ratio's if needed for parents working shifts etc. It also means he can do the school runs and so we do not have to drag the little ones out if not needed. 

We have a dedicated play room which is spacious and child friendly to play and learn in.  All the toys are at an accessible level so the children are free to make their own choices independantly.  All the children are treated in an inclusive environment and are given equal opportunities to join in on the activities.  Activities are adapted to meet the needs of all ages and development and/or specail needs.

We organise the days in flexible routines around different themes to stimulate the children to learn and enjoy their time with us.

Although we work to the Government directives framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (all childminders have to do this from September 2008)  we try and develop the childrens skills and plan routines to meet the needs in an informal way so that the children still have a home from home environment and the emphasis is still on learning through play. 

I also give the children opportunities to socailise and have new learning experiences at local toddler/stay and play sessions 2 - 3 times per week.

We look after children from 3 months to 11 years and pick up and drop off at Ingleby Mill Primary School and most nurseries. 

Our rates are competitive for the area and aim to cater for all situations. Eg. Shift work, over nights, school holidays.
